Sin separates you from God. Also, it separates you from God’s will and delays God’s work in your life.
Romans 13:14 “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”
God has a will for you and work for you to do. You will find great joy and satisfaction in fulfilling the purposes for which God created you. One man said, “Success in the Christian life is to find God’s will and do it.”
Sin postpones God’s purpose in your life. Sin holds up your progress. It delays your Christian growth. It suspends God’s blessings. Sin hinders you from doing what you were made to do. Is the fleeting pleasure of sin worth (more…)
Don’t let your heart grow cold.
Matthew 24:12 “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
Most people are particular about the temperature of the beverages they drink. If it was meant to be hot, they want it hot. If it was made to be cold, they want it cold. Anyone a fan of a nice hot milkshake? I didn’t think so.
Love was made to be hot. Love is not a state of being but rather a series of actions. Love works. It moves. Like a boiling pot, love is active.
However, love can cool. It can lose its fervor. A boiling pot of love can become an ice cube of apathy in the wrong conditions.
Love and sin are opposites. Love is hot. Sin is cold. Love gives. Sin steals. Love helps. Sin hurts. Love flows from the heart of God. Sin was born in rebellion.

Your heart can be soft or hard. Which is it right now?
A tender heart is absolutely necessary for the Christian. God warns us to guard our heart diligently because all of life’s actions and emotions flow through it.
Satan works restlessly to corrupt the heart through sin. He knows that if he can pollute our hearts that we are easy prey for his other traps.
A soft heart is essential. You won’t live for God without it. A soft heart is tender toward God. It’s grateful for God’s blessings. It’s attentive to His voice. It’s surrendered to His will. It’s kind and compassionate towards others. It’s saddened by sin and rejoices in righteousness. A soft heart wants to please the Lord in all things.
A hard heart is the opposite. It is selfish and unkind. It’s more interested in pleasing self than the Lord.
A hard heart changes how you feel. It is ungrateful. It forgets God’s miracles and blessings to focus on the material. It is cynical and negative. It cares little for the things of God.

There are no little sins. Sin is destructive by nature.
Ezekiel 18:4 “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
People attempt to categorize sin. Some sins are considered acceptable and others unacceptable. Some sins are considered especially wicked with others not so much.
Most people admit they shouldn’t commit the “big” sins, but feel that dabbling in other sin is ok. “After all, white lies, small indulgences, and occasional allowances can’t be too bad,” they say. They reason (wrongly) that if sin doesn’t hurt anyone that it must be ok.
Every sin hurts somebody. There are no victimless sins. Sin condemns.
Sin is the reason that Hell exists. The first sin of Lucifer was pride. Five times he declared, “I will” against the will of God. He found out that God was in control when He was cast out of Heaven and condemned to eternal damnation.
We must see sin as God (more…)
Sin changes the way you see the world. The more you sin, the more foolish you become. Reject temptation and be wise.
Psalm 53:1 “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: There is none that doeth good.”
I knew a preacher that used to say, “Sin makes you stupid.” The longer I live, the more I agree with him.
Sin is a trojan horse that promises pleasure but has hidden consequences. It begins to change the way you think and feel.
Like a computer virus, sin begins to rewrite your operating system. It changes your priorities, motivations, hopes, and fears. In fact, you become a different person as you go deeper into sin.
We all know people that used to be honorable who sin has corrupted. The world is full of examples. Women that used to be good mothers, who now (more…)
