Proverbs 15:30

The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.

Those of us that have studied the Bible for many years have learned to trust its truthfulness without question.  Gone are the days of constant doubt and wondering what parts of the Bible can be trusted.  I have found it to be true by study and experience.

The Bible bears any scrutiny.  It is the inspired and preserved Word of God.  I am amazed at how many times throughout history the Bible has been challenged only to be proven right in measurable areas such as history, archeology and science.  What an amazing book!

The verse mentioned above has brought a smile to my face many times.  I know a body can be fat, but can bones be fat?  At times in my life my fluctuating weight has made me wonder if I might be the poster child for fat bones!

I have never doubted that the Bible is correct in this verse.  But I confess I did not understand the analogy.  We all know the immediate benefits of good news.  It certainly has physical and mental blessings.  However, today as I was studying for a message, I learned an interesting fact.  One of the purposes of human bones is fat storage.  Yes, you read that right.  We all know that bones contain red marrow that produces blood cells.  Yet I learned today that bones also contain yellow marrow.  This yellow bone marrow stores fat.  The yellow bone marrow can become red marrow to help in blood cell production in the event of a great loss of blood or anemia.

Thousands of years before fancy microscopes and expensive tests God told us this medical fact!

Once again, the Bible amazes me!  God is good to give us His written Word.

Read it today and be amazed.
