Why did Jesus Christ endure the Cross? It was the price required to pay for sin. He did it to pay for the sin that you are tempted to commit.
1 Corinthians 15:3 “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”
It helps to remember how terrible sin is when struggling with temptation. The world, the flesh, and the devil try to convince us that sin isn’t really a big deal. They will say that most of what the Bible calls sins are personal preferences that don’t hurt anybody.
Just how bad is sin?
The awfulness of a storm is measured by what it costs to fix the damage created by it. The awfulness of sin can be calculated using the same measure.
It is easy to see the horrible effects of sin in the world. That evidence alone should be enough to convince a rational person of sin’s repulsiveness.
Furthermore, sin is so damaging, dangerous, and destructive that it was dragging the entire human race to Hell!
However, if you want to see just how terrible sin is you must look at the Cross of Calvary. There you will see (more…)
Of all the consequences for sin, one of the most sinister is self-hatred. It’s just not worth it.
Job 42:6 “Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent In dust and ashes.”
The world, the flesh, and the devil, will conspire together to lie, deceive and seduce the believer to sin. Only after the sin takes place, they unleash the painful truth.
Sin is awful. Sin destroys. The wages of sin is death. The sin was a violation against God who loves you so much; an attack against the Saviour died for you; a trespass against your wife, your children, your friends, and your fellow church members.
Satan will torment you with your wickedness. How could a child of God stoop so low to do this awful deed? Lies mixed with doubts and questions consume your mind. Are you even saved? Why should you even try to go on? You are a failure who will keep failing for the rest of your life. You might as well quit now.
This awful game of temptation and condemnation shows the diabolical nature of satan. He will work so hard to lead us away by our own lust encouraging us to sin and then persecute us with the truth that we already know. We should not have done it.
Every believer knows sin is wrong. When we choose to live in sin it creates a level self-hatred that the rest of the world can never know.
We hate the sin. We hate the consequences (more…)
How will you win the battle over sin and temptation? Through Jesus Christ your Lord!
Romans 7:25“I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.”
Before salvation, you were a slave to sin and a child of the devil. Praise God that salvation through faith in Christ made you free from sin and a child of God! You have a new Master now.
The word “Lord” means supreme master. In this verse, the word literally means “controller.”
Jesus can be your Saviour, but not your Lord. He asked the people in Luke 6:46, “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” To be saved, you must confess Him as Lord acknowledging that is His position as the Son of God. But do you live like He is your Lord? Do you seek His will, ask His preferences, and submit to His way when you don’t agree?
Many professing Christians call Jesus Lord but live contrary to His Word. Even committed Christians will obey in some areas and live how they choose in others. My friend, either (more…)

Suicide is a tragedy that takes place far too often. Don’t let it happen to you or your loved ones.
Every human is created with a desire to live. Self-preservation is the first instinct of mankind. Even satan knows that most people will do anything to save their own skin.
“And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.”
Why then do some people choose to take their own lives?
Years ago we had a young man start coming to church sporadically. He was in and out of jail and had a daughter that would ride our bus occasionally or come with a family member. He stopped interacting with us, and I lost track of him until the day my phone rang with the news that he hung himself in his parent’s garage. The family was devastated. Everyone that knew him was hurting deeply. It was a difficult funeral.
Most people give the quick answers of depression, anxiety, and mental illness. Is it really that simple?
Suicide is too complicated to cover thoroughly in one article. Today, let’s look at a few reasons people take their own lives and learn how to help them before it’s too late. (more…)
