Death is difficult for people to face for themselves and for loved ones. Thankfully, Christians face death with a much different attitude than unbelievers. Christians see death as a doorway to Heaven.
Although we do not like the process of death, we do not fear death itself. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. 2 Cor. 5:8 We have a desire to go to Heaven and a desire to be here for our loved ones and the work God has called us to do. Phil. 1:21-24 In other words, we do not fear death, but are not hoping to die today!
The fear of death is a powerful and enslaving menace. Jesus Christ destroyed the power of death through His own death, burial, and resurrection. We no longer need to fear death! Hebrews 2:14-15
“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:55–57
If you fear death, believe the Gospel today and you have no reason to fear!
Afraid?
Why should I be afraid?
It is not death to die,
‘Tis but a step to glory
And a mansion in the sky.
How can I be afraid?
The Lord is with me still,
And Loves me as He did that day
He died upon the hill.
Afraid? Of what? No night’s so dark
It can His glory dim!
Afraid? Oh no! Though Jordan roar,
I cross, dry shod, with Him.
