Mothers are special. They are a gift from God. Learn about the value of a virtuous woman in this article taken from a Mother’s Day sermon.

I am grateful for godly women. My life has been inestimably bettered by the help and influence of precious ladies. My mom went through the jaws of death to birth me. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be here without my mom. Lol. My precious wife completes my life and has birthed my children.

I cannot imagine how empty, unfulfilling, or challenging life would be without women. They are God’s gift to mankind!

Proverbs 31:10

Who can find a virtuous woman?

For her price is far above rubies.

Our text reminds us of the value of a virtuous woman.

The word virtuous means morally good or chaste. It is the practice of moral duties and the abstinence from vice.

Virtuous women are rare in this sinful world. I have met many virtuous women in good churches over the years. We have some in our church. I am even married to one! They are truly special.

Did you know that any woman can become a virtuous woman if they follow God’s plan?

Let’s investigate the Bible to learn the value of a virtuous woman.

1. The Special Creation of Woman

God uniquely created women.

Our perfect Lord Jesus confirmed the accuracy of Genesis chapter one when He pointed the Pharisees to it in an answer to a question regarding marriage and divorce.

Matthew 19:4

And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,

Who would have ever thought the basic fact that there are two genders would be up for debate? Yet today, we have a loud-mouthed few making masses cower to the absurd.

The obvious truth is that God made a man and a woman. The very names imply essential differences. Men and women are different in vital ways physically, psychologically, and emotionally.

The Creator made women special.

The Creator of the Universe carefully formed Adam and Eve. Humankind is the highlight of God’s creation. They are on a different level than the rest of the world because they were made in the image of God.

Genesis 1:26–27

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

God gave Adam dominion over the Earth. Also, God gave Adam a suitable companion called Eve. She is the queen of creation. The Almighty made woman to complement and complete man.

Genesis 2:18–24

18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 19 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. 20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. 21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Notice in verse 18, God said He would make a help meet, or suitable, for Adam. The word “meet” is an old English word meaning “fit; suitable; proper.” Man needed a helper that would strengthen his weakness and complete him. There is a deeper meaning in this word also. The word “meet” literally means “opposite.” News flash! Men and women are different. God made women to be opposite in some areas so that men and women would complete each other.

Ponder the unique creation of Woman!

  • Women are beautiful and love beauty.
  • Women have a superior capacity for love.
  • Women are thoughtful and empathetic.
  • Women love the unlovable and protect the weak.
  • Women value communication and feelings.
  • Women define their success through relationships.
  • Women are quick to help.
  • Women are intuitive and creative.

2. The Supernatural Calling of Woman

With all of a woman’s God-given gifts, one stands out above all. God made women with a truly divine superpower. The Creator gave women a womb with the ability to manufacture new humans.

The ability to give birth is not an evolutionary disadvantage, as some foolish people suppose. It is not a defect to be shunned.

Today, foolish people even contend that men can have babies. Say what??

This week on the news, some people even refused to call today Mother’s Day. They were calling it “Birthing People” day. Can you imagine saying, “Happy Birthing People’s Day!”

The ability to give birth is a wonderful gift from God. It is a stewardship in which God entrusted the next generation of humanity to the capable hands of mothers.

After Eve’s sin, Adam confessed His love and faith in her as the mother of all living. She may have made an unthinkable mistake, but she would redeem herself as the mother of humanity.

Genesis 3:20

And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

Why have so many groups attempted to convince women not to have children? Consider the ramifications of the efforts of the following groups.

Feminism

Feminism endeavored to persuade women that the way to happiness was by living the life of a man. Dress like a man. Work like a man. Have the priorities of men. How is that working out?

Countless women in their 40’s and 50’s struggle with feelings of loss and regret because they have followed the worldly advice to reject the traditional role of motherhood to chase a career.

Abortion

The abortion crowd has worked to preach their gospel of death. There are an estimated 40-50 million abortions worldwide every year. Imagine that scope of death! If people can agree on anything, we should agree that invading the safety of a womb to take a child’s life is wrong.

Wikipedia states, “A large proportion of induced abortions worldwide are due to unwanted or mistimed pregnancy. Unintended pregnancies result in about 42 million induced abortions per year worldwide. In the United States, over 92% of abortions are the result of unintended pregnancy.”

Did you catch that? The number one reason for abortions is unintended pregnancy. Often, abortion is used as a contraceptive after the fact.

LGBTQ+

The LGBTQ+ movement further moves to destroy the high and holy office of womanhood. Blurring the definitions and roles of men and women are destructive to humanity.

God calls sodomy (homosexual activity) a sin of vile affections.

Romans 1:26–27

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.

Ironically, the transgender movement is destroying many of the achievements of the feminist movement.

Each of these foolish philosophies opposes God’s original intent for the family. God explains that being a good mom is one of life’s highest callings.

Let me blow the mind of every person that holds to the worldly tenets above with a few verses from the Bible.

1 Timothy 2:12–15

12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

Eve took the lead in the perfect garden and plunged the entire human race into the corruption and destruction of sin. God gave Eve a path of redemption. She would not find absolution in positions of authority or assuming the responsibilities that God gave man.

The Bible gives a plan of salvation for the redemption of Eve and, by default, all women. Ladies will only find the meaning, significance, and liberation through their superpower of bearing and raising children. Mothers shape the next generation of humanity with love, understanding, and instruction. Is there any higher calling?

3. The Superior Calibre of a Virtuous Woman

There is nothing in the world so precious as a lady who accepts the holy mantle of Christian womanhood. Such a woman is valuable beyond gold and rubies.

Proverbs 31:10

10 Who can find a virtuous woman?

For her price is far above rubies.

Proverbs chapter thirty-one gives a resume’ of the virtuous woman. You will see that a godly woman is not a wallflower that can do nothing but cook and clean. On the contrary, she is a multi-talented person empowered by God to fulfill her role.

How much better would our world be if women would use this chapter as a goal for life?
