The verse that helped me the most was Joshua 22:5. It impresses upon me to be mindful throughout the day, moment by moment, to make decisions, speak words, and put forth effort that please God. It encourages me to love Him with all that I am – every ounce of my being. It reminds me of how a husband should cleave to his wife as in Mark 10:7 and how I can dwell in that secret place of God under His shadow all day and in every place (Psalm 91:1)
As a Christian female working in a male prison, I am constantly and closely watched. I must exhibit God’s love and abide in Him at all times so that my witness will be effective.

The Love of God sermons
All of these verses are great and share of God’s goodness to us and how He blesses us as we show Him love by walking in His ways. So true. However, I love and come back to 1 John 4:19 because it does not dwell on loving and receiving. It speaks of loving God as a pure-joy-response to His love for us. It really does lay the foundation for obeying our Heavenly Father- our love for Him comes from His love for us.
