Most people enjoy weddings.  What is there not to like? Amazing decorations, delightful music, elegant clothing, and two hearts becoming one touches a chord deep within us. Everyone hopes to find the love of their lives and live happily ever after. Yet, it seems that so few people find true love.

Sin Withholds Good Things – 30 Days to Victory

Day 29

Sin costs more than you think.  Only eternity will reveal its actual price.

Jeremiah 5:25  “Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.”

Sin always causes pain, sorrow, and destruction.  Those consequences are easy to see.  However, there is another price to sin that is more difficult to measure.

This verse tells us that sin withholds good. There are good things that God has in store for you.  He plans to give them to you.  God’s gifts include (more…)

Don’t Be Envious of Sinners – 30 Days to Victory

Day 28

How you think about sin and sinners will protect you from temptation or open the door for seduction.

Psalm 37:1  “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, Neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.”

There are two commands in this verse that will keep us from falling into foolish thinking regarding sinners.

Fret Not

The word “fret” literally means to grow warm from agitation. Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines the word in this verse to mean, “To tease; to irritate; to vex; to make angry.”

What do you think about when you see the prosperity of the wicked?  Does it (more…)

The First Temptation – 30 Days to Victory Devotional

Day 23

Genesis chapter 3 introduces us to temptation.  It reveals Satan’s most effective method of seduction.  Learn these four steps and protect yourself from them.

Genesis 3:4  “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:”

He gains your trust by convincing you he understands who you are and how you feel.  It is all a charade to gain entrance into your life.

The devil uses surrogates to get close (more…)

God Won’t Tempt You To Do Evil

Day 21

God is the Deliverer, not the tempter.

James 1:13  “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:”

The word “tempt” has two primary meanings in the Bible.  It is vital that you don’t get the two confused.

Let’s define them according to Webster’s 1828 Dictionary.  It is a reliable resource to define Bible words quickly.

Definition 1 – “To incite or solicit to an evil act; to entice to something wrong by presenting arguments that are plausible or convincing, or by the offer of some pleasure or apparent advantage as the inducement.”

This is a temptation to sin.

Definition 2 – “In Scripture, to try: to prove; to put to trial for proof.”

This is a temptation to see.

God will never tempt you to sin.  He does not (more…)
