Sin Wars Against The Soul – 30 Days To Victory

Day 15

There is a war occurring in every Christian.  Fleshly desires of the sin nature besiege the redeemed soul.  The battle can be exhausting.  Here’s how to win.

1 Peter 2:11  “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;”

A new nature was born within you when you trusted Christ.  Your soul was cleansed of sin and conveyed the righteousness of Christ.  It wants to please God in all things and cannot sin.

Your flesh did not get converted when your soul did.  It has the same old desires.  Your body doesn’t care what God wants or about your general welfare.  Lust takes what it wants without concern for consequence.

As you strive to live for God today, your flesh cries out (more…)

Sin Hardens The Heart – 30 Days of Victory

Day 14

Your heart can be soft or hard. Which is it right now?

A tender heart is absolutely necessary for the Christian. God warns us to guard our heart diligently because all of life’s actions and emotions flow through it.

Satan works restlessly to corrupt the heart through sin. He knows that if he can pollute our hearts that we are easy prey for his other traps.

A soft heart is essential. You won’t live for God without it. A soft heart is tender toward God. It’s grateful for God’s blessings. It’s attentive to His voice. It’s surrendered to His will. It’s kind and compassionate towards others. It’s saddened by sin and rejoices in righteousness. A soft heart wants to please the Lord in all things.

A hard heart is the opposite. It is selfish and unkind. It’s more interested in pleasing self than the Lord.

A hard heart changes how you feel. It is ungrateful. It forgets God’s miracles and blessings to focus on the material. It is cynical and negative. It cares little for the things of God.

A hard heart changes (more…)

Sin Condemns the Soul – 30 Days to Victory over Temptation

Day 11

There are no little sins.  Sin is destructive by nature.

Ezekiel 18:4  “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”

People attempt to categorize sin.  Some sins are considered acceptable and others unacceptable.  Some sins are considered especially wicked with others not so much.

Most people admit they shouldn’t commit the “big” sins, but feel that dabbling in other sin is ok.  “After all, white lies, small indulgences, and occasional allowances can’t be too bad,” they say.  They reason (wrongly) that if sin doesn’t hurt anyone that it must be ok.

Every sin hurts somebody.  There are no victimless sins.  Sin condemns.

Sin is the reason that Hell exists.  The first sin of Lucifer was pride.  Five times he declared, “I will” against the will of God.  He found out that God was in control when He was cast out of Heaven and condemned to eternal damnation.

We must see sin as God (more…)

Christ Died For Our Sins – 30 Days To Victory Over Temptation

Day 5

Why did Jesus Christ endure the Cross? It was the price required to pay for sin. He did it to pay for the sin that you are tempted to commit.

1 Corinthians 15:3  “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”

It helps to remember how terrible sin is when struggling with temptation. The world, the flesh, and the devil try to convince us that sin isn’t really a big deal. They will say that most of what the Bible calls sins are personal preferences that don’t hurt anybody.

Just how bad is sin?

The awfulness of a storm is measured by what it costs to fix the damage created by it. The awfulness of sin can be calculated using the same measure.

It is easy to see the horrible effects of sin in the world. That evidence alone should be enough to convince a rational person of sin’s repulsiveness.

Furthermore, sin is so damaging, dangerous, and destructive that it was dragging the entire human race to Hell!

However, if you want to see just how terrible sin is you must look at the Cross of Calvary. There you will see (more…)

You Don’t Have To Sin – 30 Days to Victory over Temptation

Day 3

Let this Truth sink in.  You.  Don’t.  Have.  To.  Sin.  Learn why in this article.

Romans 6:22  “But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.”

It is imperative that you grasp the magnitude of this truth.  Many people believe in the worldly philosophy of determinism.

Determinism is the belief that all events, including human action, are ultimately determined by causes external to the will. Some go so far as to imply that individual humans have no free will and cannot be held morally responsible for their actions.  It is a widespread belief among atheistic scientists and philosophers.  Unfortunately, this unbiblical philosophy that makes everyone a victim has crept into our churches.  This false doctrine may take various forms, but they all come from the same corrupt root.

On the contrary, the Bible teaches that everyone is responsible for their choices and actions.  God has given you a free will.  In His sovereignty, He (more…)
