A functional calendar is an indispensable tool of stewardship in life management.  We live life by a series of dates and times.  Is your calendar system helping you stay on top?

Ephesians 5:15–16  See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Time is life.  How you spend your time is how you spend your life.  The word redeem in the verse above means to ‘buy back’ or ‘rescue from loss.’  Time is wasted when it is not carefully accounted for by a schedule and a calendar.  I use Nozbe for my tasks.  I use Fantastical 2 for my calendar.

A functional calendar system is an essential tool to keep your life in order.  I have used many calendar tools.  From good old pen and paper to the fancy digital apps, I have tried many and found them lacking.  Some of them are even a hindrance to productivity.  Then I found FantasitCal 2.

I use Google for my primary calendars.  Google Calendar makes it a breeze for sharing, syncing and cloud backup, but I’m not inspired by its interface and usability.  Apple’s iCal is acceptable out of the box but could be better.  I believe that FantastiCal 2 improves on both of these apps.

3 Reasons FantastiCal 2 is My Favorite Calendar App:

1. Beautiful Interface

I enjoy the look of FantastiCal 2.  It has options for light and dark color schemes.  Its use of color makes it easy to organize.  Its layout is logical.  I look at my calendar so often that it is encouraging to have it beautiful.

2.Device Accessibility

FantastiCal 2 is available on the iMac, Macbook, iPad, iPhone, and Watch.  My information syncs effortlessly to each device using iCloud, Google, or Exchange.  While many calendar apps offer similar options, no one does it better than Fantastical 2.  There is an excellent symmetry between devices, yet the app uses the distinctiveness of each device to its advantage.  Mac versions have a very useful Mini Window and Today Widget.

3. App Usability

The app interface is well-organized and functional.  All the necessary options aren’t buried under layers.  It allows calendar input in sentence format and adding locations is easier than ever.  It has an infinite scrolling event list that leads to less clicking.  Past events fade leaving upcoming events easy to see.  A cool feature will automatically change your Calendar Sets based on your location.  This app is fun to use.

There is a lot to like about FantastiCal 2.  It helps me manage the chaos and makes my life a little better.

Have a Blessed Day!
