According To Your Faith Be It Unto You

The Sunday morning message was entitled “According To Your Faith Be It Unto You” from Matthew 9:18-29.

Matthew 9:18–29

While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples. And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land. And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

The word “according” means “to harmonize” or “to adjust one thing to another”. Our omnipotent God works in each person according to his/her faith. This means that although God has limitless power, He adjusts His working in your life to the level of your confidence in Him. Faith unleashes God’s power. Unbelief limits His power. Big faith allows God to work mightily. Small faith makes God look small and uninvolved. Unleash God’s working in your life by increasing your faith in Him! This will result in obedience to God, blessings from God and victories for God.

The Day of the Lord

The Sunday night message was “The Day of the Lord” from 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11.

1 Thessalonians 5:1–11

But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Many are interested in prophecy and end times teaching from the Bible. The Day of the Lord is a day of great wrath and a day of great comfort. It encompasses the Rapture, the Great Tribulation and the Millennial Reign of Christ.  It is mentioned in the Old Testament and the New Testament.  In the Old Testament, it often had near (judgment happening soon) and far (end time judgment) prophetic importance.

It is a day of wrath because it is the day when God’s mercy, grace and long-suffering are ended and he judges the world and its unbelieving inhabitants for sin and wickedness. It is the time of great tribulation and the wrath of the lamb. This is a terrible time and is hard to envision as we study, but it is no less than sin demands.

It is a time of comfort because the salvation of man is finally completed and the Israel is restored. This is a big subject and the message provides only an overview.
